Costa Mesa, Orange County
South Coast Plaza opened in 1967 on land where the Segerstrom family had grown lima beans. It has since become one of the highest-grossing shopping centers in the United States, with several department stores and rows of designer boutiques. The center sits beside the 405 freeway on the north side of Costa Mesa.
